Commander Gary D. Whyte will not only assume the
role as new Commander of Dorie Miller Post #915, but
the new Commander will also take over
responsibilities as the Third District Commander of
the First Division, Department of Illinois. |
|
|
 |
|
Commander Whyte has been a member of The American Legion,
Department of Illinois Dorie Miller Post #915 since 2004. He
has held several different offices in the Post and Third
District throughout his membership with the Legion. Prior to
being elected as the new Third District Commander for the
First Division, Commander Whyte served as District Sr. Vice
Commander for the past two years. He was the Sr. Vice
Commander for Dorie Miller Post #915 last year and the Jr.
Vice Commander of Dorie Miller Post #915 the year prior. |

Commander Whyte has worked diligently with the past Post
Commanders and has been instrumental in implementing several
of the current administrative programs used today by Post
915. He supports the opportunities within the District and
Post, and looks forward to his dual responsibilities as Post
and District Commanders. |
|
 |
|
Commander Whyte served in the United States Army between
1987-1998 and is a Desert Storm Veteran. He is a former
educator for the Chicago Public School District and is
currently employed by the Water Reclamation District of
Greater Chicago.

|
He and his wife Doris lives in the city of Chicago and are
proud grandparents of three, the most recent born in May
2009, their grandson Chris. |
